Our final stop in the Palo Duro Canyon is the Caves Trail, only stretching .9 miles. This trail is a hike like no other we have done before. First, we walked along a mountain with many caves scattered throughout it. Some had collapsed and could not be entered. A little farther down, we came across not only a cave you could walk into, but, crawl entirely through to the top of the mountain. After that, we found even more caves that led to dead ends or went so deep we didn’t dare go any further. Inside the caves, it was pitch black. Luckily, Taryn brought her phone for light. I used my camera's focus light to see where I was going when needed. We hope you enjoyed this trilogy of trails and can’t wait to see you in the next post!
