Welcome to the Luling Mansion. It was built for Florence Luling in 1865. Inspired by Italian architecture, it took 2 years to construct. Sadly, shortly after the Luling family moved in, Florence’s two sons drowned in the nearby St John Bayou. Florence left, never to return, and later drowned. Before his death, he sold his house. It became the Louisiana Jockey Club. In 1905, the club left and it was turned into a bunch of apartments. Hope you enjoyed it. See you in the next post!
