Fort St. John

In New Orleans, we came across an old Spanish fort. This fort is called Fort St. John. It was built-in 1701, before New Orleans was founded, to protect an important trade route. The trade route was in use until 1823. After the fort closed, it was bought by a private developer. It was turned into an amusement park and had visitors in the tens of thousands on an average day. It had a casino, restaurants, and rides that were very popular in the summer heat, as the cooling breeze from the lake would hit you. In 1938, The land turned into a public park. It was referred to as the “Spanish Fort” because all that was known about the location was that the Spanish built it. Enjoy the picture, and I hope you have a great day!
